Let's Talk Trash

The City of Inverness contracts with Waste Management for solid waste removal. If you are a resident within the city, payment of garbage and yard waste removal is included in your taxes. Each residence has one household garbage pick-up day, one yard waste removal day, and one recycle pick-up day per week, with the exception of holiday closures of the landfill.

Hazardous Waste

All waste that results from your household is not necessarily "household waste". Some of the items you dispose of might be dangerous to the environment or to the waste hauler, if not handled properly.

So just what is considered hazardous waste and how/where should it be disposed?

The City of Inverness now provides curbside recycling for residences! Residents must use the green 64 gallon recycling cart provided by the City. The recycling cart has a yellow lid. Check the lid for what items are able to be recycled. Please place your recycling cart curbside on Tuesday night. Pick-up will be on Wednesday for the entire city. If you have any questions, or do not have a recycling cart at your residence, please call the Public Works Department at 352-726-2321.
