Born and raised in Augusta, Maine, Sheri proved early on in life to be a leader, not a follower. Coming from a family of nurses, Sheri began her working career as a cook in a nursing home owned by her parents. By the age of 16, she became a Certified Nurses Aid. While nursing would’ve been an obvious choice, Sheri pursued her career in accounting and business management at the University of Maine in Machias.
Though Sheri didn’t follow family footsteps in her career choice, in 1986 she did follow her parents and moved the family to Florida. Relocating to the Orlando area in the month of June during her last trimester of pregnancy did not prove to be a HOT idea for long. Lured easily by her sister with cool breezes, blue sky and mountains, Sheri moved to Nederland, Colorado, a small town 10 miles west of Boulder. Family changes however once again called her back to Florida.
Since 1986 Sheri has worked in government finance and public administration. She served as the City Treasurer for the City of Fruitland Park, Florida; the Town Administrator for the Town of Nederland, Colorado and as a project manager/consultant for Tyler Technologies, responsible for the successful installation and implementation of local government MUNIS software accounting systems.
She is certified in project management and holds an active PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification from the Project Management Institute. Sheri is actively involved in the Florida Government Finance Officers Association, the National Institute of Government Purchasing Professionals, Project Management Institute (PMI) and formerly served as Vice-President of the Colorado Women in Municipal Government Association.
Sheri is married, with two daughters and two granddaughters. Family remains important, both in day-to-day life and in her interest to delve into the past. In 1999, Sheri became an avid genealogy researcher, sparked by being reunited with a brother she never knew. Sheri also enjoys sharing weekend riding excursions with her husband on their Harley Fatboy.
