The Inverness Community Redevelopment Agency (ICRA) is responsible for carrying out the City’s downtown redevelopment efforts and holds a singular distinction from other boards and committees; it is authorized to transact business with a separate budget. The goal of the redevelopment program is to improve the economic vitality of the Downtown Area. Program objectives are facilitated through the coordination of public improvement projects and other monetary incentives for private investment and development. Program activities may include marketing, transportation facilities, street and other public utility improvements, commercial and residential building rehabilitation, historic preservation, park development and beautification projects. Past accomplishments include landscape improvements, paving enhancements and conceptual plan development.
The Committee consists of seven (7) members, referred to as commissioners that are appointed by Council. Any person may be appointed as commissioner if they reside in or are engaged and/or own a business in the downtown redevelopment area.
Meeting times, dates, and locations are established by the committee and vary due to the activity involved. ICRA functions as a Sunshine Committee under Florida State Statutes with all meetings being open to the public. Please contact the
Department of Development Services by dialing (352) 726-3401 or by sending an
email to learn the times, dates and locations of upcoming meetings.
