The Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) hears and makes recommendations regarding rezonings, comprehensive plan amendments, waivers, street vacation request and preliminary plats for subdivision of land. This Board additionally oversees the five-year review of the Citywide Comprehensive Plan for compliance with the State of Florida Growth Management Act. After deliberation, the Committee forwards a recommendation to either the City Council or Zoning Board of Adjustment for further action. All members of the Planning and Zoning Commission must be residents of the City of Inverness, or residents of Citrus County owning improved property within the corporate limits of the City of Inverness.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on an as needed basis. The regular schedule for monthly meetings is the first (1st) Wednesday of each month at 5:00 pm in the City Council Chambers located at 212 W. Main Street.
