City Maintained Streets
Maintenance of roadways is not just limited to filling potholes. The City has a 5 year plan to repair all roads dedicated and maintained by the City. By contacting the Public Works Department, you can get an up-to-date status on roads planned for improvement.

State and County Maintained Streets
Streets which are main arteries in the City, such as Highways 41 and 44, are maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation. Roads which transverse through the county and the City may be maintained by the county. In any case, if you are unsure who maintains a road, please contact Public Works Department.
Streets Maintained by Property Owners
There are a few streets within the city limits of Inverness whose maintenance is the responsibility of the property owners. When investigating inquiries by new residents of older developments where roads are not in the best of shape, we often find that these streets were never dedicated to the City by the original land developer or were not built to the standards allowing the City to maintain them.
