Welcome to small town done right. The City of Inverness offers residents a full calendar of events each year and an expansive park system.
Starting February 1, 2020, the Depot District will host festivals, events and a bi-monthly Inverness Farmers Market
The Depot District is located along the Withlacoochee State Trail, a 46-miles of recreational trail perfect for bikes and horses.
Liberty Park and Wallace Brooks parks are waterfront parks that are located along the Withlacoochee Trail that are open year round. There are also birding trails and camping sites nearby at Potts Preserve and Fort Cooper State Park.
Whispering Pines Park is 290-acres of natural beauty with three walking trails, Olympic size swimming pool, splash pad, tennis, disc golf, baseball and pavilions.
The City is home to the renovated Valerie Theatre and the Historic Old Courthouse Museum. The Valerie Theatre dates back to the 1920s silent movie era, but was recently beautifully restored into modern cultural center with a calendar of entertainment from concerts, plays, educational exhibits, comedians and movies. The Historic Old Courthouse Museum is home to the Citrus County Historical Society and houses special collection exhibits and hosts a number of special events throughout the year. The iconic building is known for its copper cupola and clock face on all four sides. It also has been made famous for being part of the 1961 Elvis Presley movie Follow that Dream. Calling all foodies, this downtown has culinary delights for all tastes. There are fine European style dining establishments, award winning coffee shop, savory Italian restaurants, wood fired pizzerias, a farm-to-table café, down home-comfort food spots, pubs and a old Florida style dining. There is also a wide variety of shopping from antiques, apparel, accessories and bike shops.
